About

All 105 Kansas counties have a county Farm Bureau and each is independent and autonomous. The first was organized in 1912 and the last in 1952. In 1919, thirty-eight county Farm Bureaus met to begin the formation of Kansas Farm Bureau.

The function of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau board of directors is to control and govern the business of the county Farm Bureau. It consists of nine members. One is the Women’s Committee Chairperson, and is eligible for yearly re-election if so desired. Eight are elected to two year terms, and may serve two consecutive terms. After serving two terms, a person must be off the board at least one year to be eligible for re-election. The board positions alternate expiring terms to help maintain continuity. The annual activity year begins October 1 and ends September 30. Board members are elected by the county membership at the annual meeting.

The board elects a four-person officer team each year: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. These positions form the Executive Committee. The 2023-2024 officers are as follows: President Mike Blaes, Vice President Phil Clubine, Treasurer Debbie Steed, and Secretary Sara Scott. The remaining board members are Peggy Blaes, Levi Clubine, John Patrzykont, Sara Scott and Chuck Voelker, and Women’s Chairman Debbie Steed. Kathy O’Brien is the county coordinator.

There are a number of standing committees, as well as special committees as the need arises. Any Farm Bureau member can participate and contribute on committees, and are encouraged to do so. It is through the involvement of many that we are able to maintain a strong organization.
