Chuck's Chat-Welcome to August 2024
There will be a member appreciation event for Montgomery County Farm Bureau members on Tuesday, August 6 at the office located at 217 W Myrtle in Independence from 11am to 2pm. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and other refreshments will be provided, as well as door prizes and other surprises. Co-sponsored by Anna Lawless Farm Bureau Financial Services, this event is one you won’t want to miss.
August 14 will be a kids pedal tractor pull during the annual Interstate Fair and Rodeo in Coffeyville at 5:30pm. This will be a state fair qualifying event, so be sure and don’t miss out on all the fun and excitement.
Tuesday, August 27 will be the annual Listening Post, an opportunity for Farm Bureau members to hear and discuss the proposed policy changes to be deliberated at this year’s KFB meeting in December. It will be held at the Greenbush Service Center near Girard, with a meal beginning at 6:30pm. Please text an RSVP by August 16 to (785)-364-6017 to help with meal preparations.
The annual Montgomery County Farm Bureau meeting will be held on October 2 at ICC West in Independence (former Food 4 Less building). The silent auction proceeds will benefit Justin Ward, a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Deputy, who is in recovery from serious injuries sustained in an accident while in the line of duty this past April. Contact me or Kathy O’Brien at (620) 331-0826 if you’d like to donate at item or financial support.
Please take time to vote August 6. My wife and I have already cast our ballots, as we’ll be participating in the KFB Farm Family of the Year trip to Washington state next week. I’m sure there’ll be a picture or two on that Facebook thing.
Stay cool my friends.
Until next month,
Chuck Voelker
