Chuck's Chat-Welcome to February 2023

Well, one down and eleven to go. I don’t know about you, but for me it seems as though January just flew past. I don’t think I’ve been in any concussion protocol, but I think I missed a few days along the way.

Here's a list of upcoming events in the area you may be interested in. Contact your local extension office or visit https://www.wildcatdistrict.k-state.edu for details.

• Prepping for Recession: Protecting farming cash flows - Feb 16th in Parsons

• Soil Health Conference - Feb 21st in Parsons

“The Wildcat Extension Education Foundation strives to encourage educational and research endeavors, increase involvement in the Foundation, promote public awareness of the Wildcat Extension District, and provide financial support for the Wildcat Extension District.” There is an open position on the governing board, and it is a great opportunity for a progressive minded, community driven individual. If you are a resident of Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, or Wilson County and have interest, contact any of the district offices or send a message to wildcatext@ksu.edu.

Once again, Kansas Farm Bureau is awarding a Natural Resources Award. If you know of someone in Montgomery County who deserves to be recognized for their farm conservation or land stewardship efforts, contact Kathy O’Brien at 620-331-0826.

The annual issue surfacing meeting will be held March 15 at the Brickhaus in Erie beginning at 6pm. This is an opportunity for Farm Bureau members to make policy recommendations and raise issues they would like the KFB Resolutions Committee to examine. More details will be unveiled soon.

As a reminder, you have until February 6 to complete your 2022 Census of Agriculture survey. Responding to the Census of Agriculture is required by law under Title 7 USC 2204(g) Public Law 105-113.

And before I forget, How ‘bout those CHIEFS!!!

Until next month,
